About our Wedding Book

We invite you to contribute to Josh and Katie's future with reminders of their past and present. Please create or claim a page in the Wedding Book we are making for them, to be filled with pictures, poems, anecdotes, and other thoughts about love, marriage, relationships, Katie, and Josh. Perhaps you will come up with any of the following:

* photos, past and present * a favorite poem or other piece of literature * your own poetry * advice and good wishes * cartoons or witty sayings * artwork * memories (stories and/or photos) of favorite activities or trips shared with Josh and Katie * favorite recipes or meals * anything you would like to share with them, in word or image.

You can either attach your contribution to a backing that is up to 12" x 12" in size (use archival "Best Test Paper Cement" for gluing) and bring it to the wedding, or bring it in an envelope or bag for us to take home and assemble. Even better, send the material to Eleni and Sherry (e-mail srosen ~at~ tellurian ~dot~ com for a mailing address), and we will create the page for you, since the Book won't be finalized until after the wedding weekend.

With all of your contributions, we are sure that this Wedding Book will be treasured and enjoyed by Katie and Josh for decades to come.

About our Registry

We have registered at whattogive.com, a third-party site that lists items from many different sources. Since whattogive.com is unaffiliated with the merchants listed therein, a gift purchased by links from that page will not automatically be reflected on the site unless the purchaser explicitly "promises" the item. In other words, purchasing an item from our registry is a two-step process. (The one exception is a small Crate & Barrel registry we have created for our dishes.) For some items for which we have no particular knowledge or preference, we have provided no link to any merchant. Questions about these registries can be directed to Groomsman Tim Szostek: tim.szostek ~at~ gmail ~dot~ com. In keeping with the Arts & Crafts philosophy mentioned below, we welcome any gift you might choose to give us, particularly your presence on July 7th, and consider this registry merely a list of ideas for those who want them.

About the Roycroft Arts & Crafts Movement

Elbert Hubbard (not to be confused with L. Ron Hubbard), traveled in Europe and learned from William Morris before returning to East Aurora where he founded a literary journal and arts community, thus giving birth to the Arts and Crafts movement in the United States. One of the central themes of the Arts and Crafts philosophy was a reaction against the advent of uniform, machine-made goods and, consequently, an effort to promote unique, hand-made interior design. It's a philosophy Josh and Katie support as they try to increase the amount of art in their lives. The Arts & Crafts movement also influenced architecture and design in Berkeley, making East Aurora a comfortable venue for our wedding.

About this Page

JoshAndKatie.com has been lovingly hand-coded by Katie. The fonts on this page and on our invitations, Arts & Crafts and Powell, were produced by the P22 Type Foundry. The Arts & Crafts font is based on the original c. 1900 typeface of Dard Hunter, a Roycrofter, and was developed in conjunction with the Burchfield-Penney Art Center in Buffalo. (Dard Hunter also designed the stained glass windows at the Roycroft Inn, including the one to the left, which was featured on Josh's blog in October.) Expect to see the Arts & Crafts font on road signs all across East Aurora.
